- Ghana and Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus has been adjudged the best player abroad by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana
- Mohammed Kudus beat Daniel Amartey and Jonathan Mensah to the award after winning the double in the Netherlands
- The 21-year-old also played a pivotal role in Ghana qualification to AFCON 2021 and the play-offs of the World Cup qualifiers
Ajax and Black Stars midfielder, Mohammed Kudus has been named the best Ghanaian player abroad at the Sports Writers Association of Ghana awards.
The 21-year-old beat off competition from Leicester City's Daniel Amartey and Columbus Crew captain Jonathan Mensah.
SWAG presented the award to the player's team at the ceremony head in Accra, on Friday December 17, 2021.
The midfield dynamo had an outstanding 2021, winning the Dutch Eredivisie and the Dutch Cup with Ajax.
He was also a key member of the Black Stars as they secured qualification to the 2021 Africa Cup and the play-offs of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Unfortunately, he is currently injured and could miss the tournament in Cameroon in January and February 2022.
Ajax star delighted after scooping Foreign Player of the Year award
Mohammed Kudus could not hide his joy after winning the player of the year award at the SWAG night.
Having had a successful season in Europe, the youngster took to Twitter to thank the association and Ghanaian for their support.
"To the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, thanks for this award. I’m humbled to be adjudged the “Foreign Footballer of the Year 21’. To all awardees & nominees as well team mates. We are all winners. This is for Ghana, Let’s keep the Black Star soaring & sparkling," he wrote on Twitter.
