The coach of the Guinean national football team, Kaba Diawara, has released a 27-man squad list for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations beginning in Cameroon in January 9.
The Syli National are drawn in Group B of the competition alongside African powerhouse Senegal, Zimbabwe and Malawi.
Diawara’s side will be opening their account at the tournament against The Flames of Malawi on January 10 before they take on the Teranga Lions of Senegal four days later.
They wrap up the preliminary round against Zimbabwe on January 18 and will hope to qualify for the knockout phase of the competition.
Africa Top Sports are reporting that Diawara made the disclosure on Monday naming key figures like Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita, Horoya Athletic Club’s Morlaye Sylla and Lokomotiv Moscow’s François Kamano.
Former Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba who recently joined Bundesliga side RB Leipzig is also named for the competition.
Last time in Egypt, 2019, Guinea were knocked out in the Round of 16 by Algeria 3-0 who went on to lift the title ahead of Teranga Lions.
Keita and teammates are now eager to do better next year in Samuel Eto’o’s country.

Meanwhile, the interim coach of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen, has disclosed that Nigerians will be happy with the team performance during the forthcoming AFCON.
Nigeria are drawn in Group D alongside Pharaohs of Egypt, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan in the preliminary round of the tournament.

FootballEguavoen who was mandated to step in for sacked Gernot Rohr believes his team will excel at the tournament which starts in Cameroon on January 9.
But they will have to contend with best teams on the continent including the likes of Senegal, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Cameroon.

he Serbian trainer is expected to name a larger squad before it is pruned to a 28-man team for the Nations Cup in Cameroon.
The Ghana Football Association confirmed the coach will be meeting the press on Tuesday at their secretariat, where an announcement will be made as to which players will represent the country at AFCON 2021.
