The 2024 European Championship has reached the quarter-final stage.

France, Portugal, Germany, and France are on the same side of the bracket, meaning we'll only see one in the final. France faces Portugal, while Germany battles an exciting Spanish side.

England are on the other side alongside the Netherlands. Turkey and Switzerland will look to eliminate them. The Three Lions will clash with Switzerland, and the Dutch will take on Turkey. Here's Sports Brief's predictions for all four matches.

Euro 2024 quarter-final prediction

Spain vs Germany

This is perhaps the most anticipated encounter at the Euros. The two sides have been the most enjoyable teams to watch at the tournament. La Roja have won all their games in the competition, and the host nation will be tested come Friday evening. Julian Nagelsmann's side has a great record in the quarter-finals, so the margins in this tie will be fine.

Both teams are spearheaded by youthful stars. Spain have mainly won thanks to Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams. The two wingers have unsettled defences, created plenty of chances, and scored important goals. On the other hand, Germany has Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, who can be match-winners.

These two teams last met at the World Cup in 2022, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The last time they met at the Euros was at the 2008 final, which Spain won 1-0, per Opta Analyst. Prediction: Germany to win on penalties.

Portugal vs France

These two sides met in the final of the 2016 edition, and Cristiano Ronaldo's team emerged victorious. France went on to win the 2018 World Cup. Both teams have arguably the best squads at the tournament. However, they haven't impressed at all in Germany. Les Bleus have not scored a goal from open play yet despite their fearsome attack led by Kylian Mbappe. Portugal needed a penalty shootout to eliminate Slovenia, who had chances to upset Roberto Martinez's team.

Both teams have bags of experience, and it is hard to pick a favourite in this contest. However, France's incredible defence will be key. They have kept a clean sheet in three of their four games. Portugal struggled to score against Slovenia, largely thanks to Jan Oblak. Prediction: France to win 1-0.

England vs Switzerland

England were nearly eliminated in the Round of 16 by Slovakia. They needed an overhead kick and extra time to progress. They are not playing as favourites to win the tournament. The Swiss, on the other hand, have been brilliant. They defeated defending champions Italy in the last 16 and could upset the Three Lions.

The Three Lions reached the final of the 2020 edition and are still looking for their first piece of silverware in 60 years. They have the experience and talent to win it but lack chemistry. Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, and Bukayo Saka will need to step up and win matches for England. Prediction: England to win 1-0.

Netherlands vs Turkey

The Dutch convincingly won their Round of 16 tie against Romania. They haven't been entirely brilliant at the tournament, but they've shown flashes of a team that could win the title. Their only defeat came against Uastria in the group stage. Turkey comfortably eliminated Ralf Rangnick's side in the last 16, so this will be an intriguing tie.

Ronald Koeman's side are probably more talented than Turkey, but Vincenzo Montella’s side defeated a strong Austrian side who were backed to go through over Turkey. Prediction: Netherlands to win 2-1.

Liverpool legend slams Bellingham

Sports Brief earlier reported on former Liverpool midfielder, Dietmar Hamann, criticising Jude Bellingham's performances and behaviour at Euro 2024.

The former German international advised the England superstar to be careful and stop disrespecting opponents.
