Euro 2024 and Copa America have now gotten to their business end, with only eight teams from each competition remaining to battle for a place in the semi-finals.

Brazil and Colombia became the latest countries to join the fray after playing out to a one-all draw at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on July 3. Due to the lack of many countries, the Copa America jumps directly to the quarter-finals after the group stage.

Brazil have now set up an enthralling fixture against Uruguay. The Marco Bielsa side have been playing entertaining football for the past year and are favourites to win the trophy alongside holders Argentina.

In Europe, hosts Germany will play Spain. The two sides have arguably been the best performers at this year's championships, but sadly, one of them will have to make way for the other on July 5. The other highly-anticipated fixture will see France take on Portugal in what would be a repeat of the 2016 final.

But amid all these expected entertaining matches, fans will not be able to see some of their stars in action as managers struggle to replace them in their line-ups.

Vinicius Junior leads the list of players who will miss the quarter-finals after picking up a second yellow card. Two yellow cards in the first five games for Euro 2024 or four games for Copa America will result in an automatic one-match suspension, as explained by Sports Brief in a separate report.

The cards are wiped after the quarterfinals are quarter-finals to ensure that a player doesn't miss the final due to accumulated yellow cards. The only way a player can miss the final is by getting a direct red card.
