Enzo Maresca officially resumes as Chelsea's new boss today after joining from Leicester City following their promotion to the Premier League after a season in the Championship.

The club's sporting group have moved to improve the squad with the signings of Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham and attacking prospect Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa.

According to Football London, the club have also signed Brazilian attacker Estevao Willian, who will join next summer. They have also reached an agreement for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Giui.

Despite the signings, the team still lacks enough quality in some key positions, some of which cost Mauricio Pochettino his job at the club last season.

Sports Brief looks at four key positions where the team still needs reinforcement.

Four positions Chelsea need reinforcement

Goalkeeper

Pochettino deployed Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic for about the same number of games last season, and none proved capable of holding down the spot to help the club compete. GiveMeSport reported that Maresca wants to trust the Spaniard as his number one, though the club are linked to Alvaro Valles and Giorgio Mamardashvili.

Left-back

The club has confirmed the departures of Ian Maatsen and Lewis Hall, both of whom spent last season on loan. This leaves Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell as the options at number three. The Spaniard redeemed himself and has been on a good run. Fans want the vice-captain sold and a new player brought in to compete with Cucurella.

Striker

Nicolas Jackson shouldered the striking responsibility for most of last season in his first year in Blue. Many fans have called for the signing of a point man to allow the 22-year-old to develop and be an understudy. The impending addition of Marc Giui would not stop the recruitment of an established forward.

Wingers

The Blues lack quality wide men. Omari Hutchinson has been sold to Ipswich Town, and they missed out on signing Michael Olise. This leaves Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke, and Mykhailo Mudryk as the senior wingers; all three were inconsistent last season. If the club wants to compete, wingers who offer creativity and goals are important.

Strikers Chelsea can target after missing out on Sesko

Sports Brief reported on Chelsea missing out on Benjamin Sesko after the Slovenian forward opted to stay at RB Leipzig, instead of securing a move away.

Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal were highly interested, leaving both to turn their attention to other forwards in the market, one of which is Dominic Solanke.
