The Zambian Football Association has confirmed the death of former Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City striker, Justin Shonga, at the age of 27 on Sunday, June 30.

The Chipata-born forward is well-known in the Premier Soccer League, having played for TTM and Sekhukhune United, in addition to Cape Town City and the Bucs.

The Zambian international's last club was Najran in Saudi Arabia's second division, having joined them in February.

According to iDiskiTimes, the Zambian Football Association released an official statement on X to confirm Shonga's passing.

"Former Chipolopolo forward Justin Shonga has died," the Zambian FA stated.
"Zambia Police Deputy Spokesperson Dan Mwale confirmed this in an interview with the FAZ Media Team.
"Mwale said Shonga died at Sikanze Police Hospital after a short illness. More details will be available in due course."

Four players Orlando Pirates should sign

The Buccaneers need to strengthen their squad this summer to compete with Mamelodi Sundowns in the league.
