Kaizer Chiefs have not won a trophy for nine seasons.

The Soweto giants are set to announce Nasreddine Nabi as their new coach in the coming week.

Former Chiefs coach, Sergio Dos Santos, has warned fans that the new coach will need time to rebuild the team.

The Glamour Boys had a miserable 2023/24 season. They finished 10th in the DStv Premiership and had one of the worst attacks in the league.

Molefi Ntseki's tenure as coach ended after 114 days, and Cavin Johnson's spell as caretaker coach was disastrous.

Nabi is expected to stabilize and rejuvenate the club that finished 37 points behind PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kaizer Chiefs fans warned

Former Chiefs coach, Sergio Dos Santos, said Nabi is going to start from scratch after firing Gavin Hunt.

"The new coach is gonna have to start bringing new players and start all over again. That means nothing has happened since Gavin Hunt left," he told KickOff.
"You can't buy new players and expect the team to be fantastic straight away, it takes time to rebuild it."

Dos Santos said Nabi will need time to settle at Naturena.

"The new coach first, he's got to know the local football, how it operates, the mentality of the South African players. He's got to put the picture together. And that takes time. You can't do that in two or three months. It takes at least six months for things to start going properly. Hence, I'm saying one year."
"By the end of next season, Kaizer Chiefs is in the top four positions and challenging for something, then we will know they are back on track and travelling in the right direction."

Nabi will be under pressure from desperate Chiefs fans who last saw their team lift a trophy in 2015.

When will Nabi join Kazier Chiefs?

Sports Brief earlier reported that Nabi will be appointed as Chief coach in the first week of July.

The Tunisian is expected to take the reins after his final match with Moroccan side AS FAR Rabat.
