English Premier League giants Arsenal are set to make a move for Senegalese teen sensation Mikayil Faye in the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old Barcelona defender is also on the radar of Portuguese outfit FC Porto following an outstanding campaign with the B team of the Spanish side.

Faye, who scored on his Senegal debut, has caught the attention of several clubs across Europe but Porto have reportedly made the first approach for the youngster.

However, the Gunners are set to hijack the move as Mikel Arteta looks for options in defence following the over-dependence on William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães.

Arsenal makes inquiries on Faye

According to HITC, Arsenal have asked about the availability of the defender after his move to Porto stalled over the failure of Barcelona and the Portuguese outfit to reach an agreement.

Faye, who can also play as a left-back gained the attention of Arteta with his superlative performances in the reserves league. He scored four goals in 35 matches leading Barcelona Athletic to the play-offs, where they lost to Cordoba, per Transfermarkt.

He was in and out of former Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandes' team for La Liga games but could not make his senior debut.

While the Catalans could let him leave for the right fee, new manager Hansi Flick is interested in working with the player.

Man United eye Senegal defender Faye

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Manchester United are monitoring Senegal defender Mikalyil Faye after making his international debut for the Teranga Lions against Gabon in March 2024.

The 19-year-old Barcelona B centre-back impressed in his first game for the former African champions, scoring a belter as Senegal defeated Gabon.

Faye is also having an outstanding season with the reserves of Barcelona, prompting attention from several clubs.
