According to Metro UK, the 22-year-old has not played for the Premier League side since January 2022 when he was arrested for alleged assault and abuse.

However, the charges were dropped after more than a year of waiting, with United forced to ship him out to Getafe due to pressure.

Greenwood was impressive for the Spanish side during his stay at the club, with his performances earning him interest from other top clubs.

Serie A giants, Juventus and Lazio, are among the clubs who have reportedly shown interest in him, while a return to the La Liga has also been mooted.

It is believed that Lazio have already tabled a £30 million offer to bring the striker to the Italian capital.

According to The Athletic, French side, Marseille, have also joined the race to sign the United academy product this summer.

The club, who recently appointed Roberto De Zerbi as manager, are believed to have already opened talks with United over a possible deal.

While the transfer fee has not been agreed yet, reports suggest that there has been 'positive dialogue' between the club and Greenwood.

The promising striker is said to be favouring a move to Stade Velodrome, with the Red Devils keen to fetch a fee of £40mil for the player.

Be that as it may, United are also understood not to have ruled out the possibility of Greenwood returning to the club.

The Englishman is among the players retained by the Premier League side after several others were released following the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign.
