English striker, Harry Kane, has praised former manager, Jose Mourinho, for the influence the coach had on his career during their time together at Tottenham Hotspur.

Mourinho has won trophies at every club he has managed except Spurs, who sacked him six days before the 2021 Carabao Cup final, which they eventually lost to Manchester City.

The Portuguese manager then helped AS Roma win their first ever European title, the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League, in 2021.

He left the Italian club in January after he was sacked due to a poor run of results. He signed for Fenerbahce this month and will begin his next adventure in Turkey.

What did Harry Kane say about Mourinho?

Despite their lack of team success during their 17 months together at Tottenham, Kane reached new personal heights under the former Chelsea boss.

He acknowledged this in an interview with ESPN UK, explaining the freedom Mourinho gave him to express that different side of his game.

"I've always felt like I'm more than just a striker who has to wait for the ball the whole game. I feel like I can impact the game with my passing and getting into spaces,” he said.
"Jose allowed me and the other attacking players to be kind of a bit more free. There weren't too much structure in it. It was kind of the perfect opportunity to do that with that coach.”

How did Kane perform under Mourinho?

Under the Special One, Kane won the Premier League Golden Boot and the Playmaker Award with 23 goals and 14 assists, a testament of the improvement to his game.

According to Transfermarkt, he played 62 games for the former Chelsea boss and has 62 goals and assists. As noted by Optajoe, that's more than any other player in the league during that time.

What did England fans say about Harry Kane?

Sports Brief also reported on fans slamming England's Harry Kane for his interview after their third Group C match at Euro 2024 - a draw against Slovenia.

The captain claimed the objectives of the group stage were achieved, a comment that did not sit well with the fans, who blasted him using social media.
