Football fans have echoed Ronaldinho Gaucho's earlier criticism of Brazil's current squad following their goalless draw with Costa Rica at Copa America 2024.

The former FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain icon labelled Dorival Junior's team as "perhaps one of the worst in recent years" and initially vowed to boycott his nation's games in the tournament.

Ronaldinho's remarks were prompted by Brazil's lacklustre performance in a pre-tournament friendly against the United States, which ended in a 1-1 draw, per beIN Sports.

However, after some reflection, he retracted his statement and pledged his unwavering support to the Selecao.

But on the back of their opening match against Costa Rica, a country ranked 48 places below Brazil, the validity of Ronaldinho's concerns seems evident.

Despite featuring talents like Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo de Goes, the team lacked identity, flair, and a powerful playing style accustomed to the nine-time South American champions.

Brazil's 0-0 draw on June 25 was particularly disappointing.

As noted by GOAL, the performance was marked by a lack of identity, leadership, and desire on the pitch, a concerning start for a tournament favourite.

Fans echo Ronaldinho's remarks about Brazil

Fans have taken to social media, particularly X (formerly Twitter), to express their agreement with the 44-year-old's assessment, highlighting the team's struggles and underwhelming display.

@_goatnelli, who was not enthused with what he saw, wrote:

"I agree with Ronaldinho. These guys are absolute cheeks."

Another user, @ImaniMUFC, added:

"Ronaldinho was right about Brazil, Neymar is the only player that could save this team."

@NoodleHairCR7 stressed:

"Ronaldinho got abused for no reason. Brazil without Neymar is just like Argentina without Di Maria."

@ThePeakSantiSubscribe also sang the same chorus:

"They tried to cook Ronaldinho, man; even Neymar is broken."

@UTDTrey concluded:

"Brazil drawing 0-0 with Costa Rica? Damm! Ronaldinho, I get it now."

Vinicius criticised after Brazil's draw

In a related report, Sports Brief highlighted the criticism Vinicius Jr. faced following Brazil's draw with Costa Rica.

The match proved challenging for Vini, who failed to register a shot on target, as Dorival Junior's team began the tournament on a shaky note.

He was substituted with 20 minutes remaining.
