Sporting Lagos have been relegated to the second division, Nigeria National League, after spending just one season in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The Tech Boys lost to the Shooting Stars of Ibadan on the final day of the 2023-24 StarTimes NPFL season on Sunday, June 23.

Former Rivers United star Christian Pyagbara scored the game's only goal as Shooting condemned the Lagos-based club to relegation in the Southwest derby.

Sporting Lagos had the chance to avoid being relegated from the league if they got a win over Segun Ogunbote's side, but their poor run of form on the road haunted them once again this season.

The Tech Boys failed to win a single away game throughout the campaign, with their best result being a draw.

The Lagos giants will return to the NNL next season and hope to return to the Nigerian top-flight league for the 2025-26 campaign.

Sporting Lagos' relegation to the lower division sparked different reactions from fans on social media.
