Portugal reached the knockout stage of Euro 2024 in stunning fashion after they blew off Turkey 3-0 on June 22.

Portugal's win had an additional benefit, as they won Group F with a game to spare. They had beaten Czech Republic 2-1 in their opening game on Tuesday.

Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 21st minute before Turkey scored one of the most comical own goals in football history. A communication mix-up between Samet Akaydin and Manchester United's goalkeeper Altay Bayindir saw the former pass the ball into his net.

Roberto Martinez's side completed the rout in the 56th minute after Ronaldo selflessly set up Bruno Fernandes to roll the ball into an empty net.

The other moment of the game was at the start of the second half when a young pitch invader evaded the stewards and raced towards Ronaldo at the centre of the pitch. The five-time Ballon d'Or happily granted his request for a selfie.

The young boy was then chased out of the pitch with the stewards who finally caught up with him near the touchline.

Ronaldo had two other fans evade the stewards and get to him in the course of the game.

Portugal will now play their dead rubber match against debutants Georgia on Wednesday as Turkey play the Czech Republic on the same day,

Who will qualify from Group F alongside Portugal?

In the other game of the group, the Czech Republic drew with Georgia to set up an interesting final day of group stage action next week.

Patrick Schick cancelled out Georges Mikautadze's penalty at the stroke of halftime. All three teams (Turkey included) remain in contention to finish as the runners-up in the group.
