Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise is set to make a sensational move to German giants, Bayern Munich, as his Premier League stint nears its end.

Olise, one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League after an impressive 2023/2024 campaign, decided to join Vincent Kompany’s side despite interest from other English giants.

Chelsea and Newcastle United were among the parties that contacted Palace earlier in June to inquire about the France Under-21 international’s availability.

However, the 22-year-old ultimately decided on Bayern, with the German giants granted permission to enter negotiations with the winger.

The Bavarians are in the process of a major squad rebuild and have already secured Hiroki Ito's signature after triggering his €30 million release clause.

Olise, who scored 10 goals in 19 appearances for Crystal Palace last season, is set to represent France at the Paris Olympics.

Why did Chelsea pull out?

At first, Chelsea were touted as one of the favourites to capture Olise's services.

However, according to The Athletic, there were complications in the pursuit, mainly because the Frenchman’s release clause is in the region of £60 million. The overall cost of the deal would have proven too hefty for the Stamford Bridge landlords, who nearly landed Olise for a mere £35m last summer.

90Min further reports that Chelsea is keen on rewarding its current players rather than spending a significant amount on another superstar.

However, the Blues are still keen on signing a central striker and have several names on their wish list.

Atletico Madrid's Samu Omorodion and Aston Villa's Jhon Duran are some players being monitored ahead of the summer transfer window.

Milos Kerkez linked to Manchester United

Sports Brief also reported on the talented Bournemouth right-back linked to Manchester United.

Kerkez, 20, represents Hungary at international level and has 15 caps for his country.

He progressed through the youth ranks in various clubs across Europe, including Rapid Vienna and AC Milan, before eventually joining Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2022.
