With the 48th edition of the tournament underway, Sports Brief looks at some of the youngsters to watch at the tournament.

5 youngsters to watch at Copa America

Endrick

The Brazilian is only 17, but he’s already got the world talking about him.

While he eyes continental glory with the Selecao, he’s also looking to conquer La Liga next season.

The youngster will officially link up with Real Madrid when he turns 18 next month, having already signed for the club in 2022, as per Sky Sports.

Brazil will kick off their campaign against Costa Rica on June 25.

Alejandro Garnacho

It’s strange to consider Garnacho a youngster when you think about his performances for Manchester United already.

The 19-year-old has made 86 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 15 goals, and has earned his place in the Argentinian squad as a result.

Despite playing alongside Lionel Messi, Garnacho is a huge Cristiano Ronaldo fan and isn’t afraid to admit it.

Kendry Paez

The 17-year-old is officially the youngest player at the tournament, but that’s not the only reason to remember his name.

The Ecuadorian youngster is one of Chelsea FC’s new signings, but will only join the club when he turns 18.

The left-footed attacking midfielder has already broken records for his country during the tournament's qualifiers and will be looking to make his mark on a big stage like Copa America.

Giovanni Reyna

The American international is by no means a new name on the global stage, but he’s yet to reach his full potential.

Now 21, he previously had a falling out with the national team coach but has earned a place back in the squad for the upcoming tournament.

Having endured a dismal season for Borussia Dortmund and Nottingham Forest, Reyna doesn’t have the best form going into the tournament but has the most to prove, making him one to watch.

Messi becomes most capped Copa America player

While the youngsters promise to light up Copa America, all eyes are still on one of the veterans of the sport.

Messi became Copa's most-capped player in tourney history with his 35th appearance on Thursday, June 20.

The 2022 World Cup winner has now competed in seven editions of the tournament, Sports Brief reported.
