The Premier League fixtures for the 2024/25 season have been confirmed and anticipation is already building.

The schedule for the upcoming campaign was announced on Tuesday, June 18, with a number of mouth-watering clashes on the horizon.

Manchester City will kick off their Premier League title defence with a tricky clash against Chelsea, who will be under a new manager, on August 18, 2024.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United will curtain raise the new season with a home clash against Fulham on Friday, August 16.

Arsenal, who finished as runners-up last season, will take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, August 17, with Liverpool the other top team that will be involved.

The biggest fixture of the first round of the new campaign will involve Chelsea and reigning champions, Manchester City, scheduled for Sunday, August 18.

Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City will wind up week one on Monday, August 18, at the King Power Stadium.

Sports Brief now takes a look at the top seven fixtures to look out for during the new season.

7 2024/25 Premier League games to look out for

1. Chelsea vs Man City: Sunday, August 17

As earlier mentioned, this will be the biggest game of week one.

However, beyond that, it also has a lot of significance as it will be Enzo Maresca's first game in charge since being appointed after the departure of Mauricio Pochettino.

Maresca, who previously coached under Pep Guardiola at Man City, swapped Leicester City for the Blues after helping the Foxes return to the English top flight.

2. Ipswich vs Liverpool: Sunday, August 17

Ipswich Town sealed a sensational return to the Premier League after more than two decades of waiting.

According to the BBC, they silenced Huddersfield 2-0 at home to secure their promotion.

Given how long they have been away, it would be interesting to see how The Tractor Boys will fare in their opening game against Liverpool.

Incidentally, the Reds will be tutored by a new coach, Arne Slot, who recently took charge after Jurgen Klopp, who had spent nine years at Anfield, left.

3. Man United vs Liverpool: August 31

Slot will seemingly not have time to settle in, going by the fixture list. The Dutchman is scheduled to take on his fellow countryman, Erik ten Hag, just two weeks after the season starts.

This will surely be a huge litmus test for the former Feyenoord boss if he is to instil faith and belief that he is the perfect man to take Liverpool to the next stage.

4. Man City vs Arsenal: September 21

Matches involving Manchester City and Arsenal are slowly becoming some of the most important in the Premier League. The two teams have twice gone head-to-head in the title race, with City emerging victors on both occasions.

The Gunners were heavily criticised when they settled for a 0-0 draw in their visit to the Etihad Stadium towards the end of last season, with the results impacting their title chances.

5. Arsenal vs Tottenham: January 14, 2025

The North London Derby is one of those fixtures to always look forward to.

Last season, the two-legged fixture produced nine goals, with Arsenal beating Tottenham away 3-2 in one of the ties.

It would be interesting to see what the two teams have to offer next season.

6. Liverpool vs Arsenal: May 10, 2025

This is one of the other fixtures to look forward to, especially considering the time of the season when it will be played.

While it remains to be seen how Liverpool will cope without Klopp, Arsenal are almost guaranteed to be in the title race once again.

And with the Gunners yet to win at Anfield since 2012, it would be interesting to see if they can end that voodoo next term.

7. Everton vs Southampton: May 18, 2025

Everton's home clash against Southampton graces the final day of the season.

The match may not promise to have any major stakes - but it will be an important one for the Toffees. This is because this will be their last game at Goodison Park before they move to their new stadium.

Everton have played at the stadium since 1892.

Amad Diallo set for new role next season

Sports Brief also reported that Amad Diallo could star for Manchester United more prominently in the 2024/2025 campaign after the club decided to retain Erik ten Hag as manager.

United's chiefs are reportedly keen on developing young talent within the squad, and the Dutchman's retention at Old Trafford offers players like Diallo the chance to reach their potential.
