Weeks after the Red Devils’ FA Cup win, Ten Hag disclosed the club spoke to former Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel before deciding against sacking the Dutchman.

United’s part-owners, INEOS, are keen on developing young talent within the squad, and Ten Hag’s retention at Old Trafford offers players like Diallo a massive chance to reach their full potential.

Diallo’s new role

After signing for United from Alatanta for a fee rising to £37million, Diallo has had inconsistent performances as a Red Devils, mainly because he has been used in a sporadic role.

His first three years at the club saw him sent out on loan spells at Rangers in January 2022 and Sunderland in the 2022/2023 campaign, per Transfermarkt.

Last season, despite playing for United, the 21-year-old suffered a disheartening knee injury which kept him out of action for five months.

According to a report by Manchester Evening News, Diallo is now set to become one of the more integral players of Ten Hag’s squad.

Since his return from injury, he has been a consistent figure in the United squad and played a crucial part in his team’s FA Cup glory last season. Notably, Diallo scored the winner against Liverpool in the quarter-final.

After United’s 3-2 win over Newcastle in May, Ten Hag was full of praise for Diallo, hinting there was more to come from the youngster.

“The club is in transition. It's a disappointing season,” the gaffer said.
“But,in the disappointment, there's progress from some good players, Rasmus Hojlund, Amad Diallo, Alejandro Garnacho. I'm always happy when young players are progressing very good across the season. I've said before that some good things are happening. “

Diallo’s current contract runs out at the end of the 2024/2025 season, but there is an option to extend by a further year.

Man United youngster impresses in 100 metres

Sports Brief also reported on an incredible video of Manchester United’s youngster Silva Mexes, who ran 100 metres in 11.1 seconds.

To put this time into context, the world’s fastest human - Usain Bolt - ran his best time in 9.58 seconds.

Clips of the youngster against his counterparts showed a clear gulf in class, as he established a fair distance between himself and the second-placed runner.
