Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly close to appointing Nasreddine Nabi as their new coach.

The AS FAR Rabat coach is said to have confirmed Amakhosi's offer, with reports indicating it is only be a matter of time before he is named coach.

Former Chiefs star, Pollen Ndlanya, has questioned the club's timing in searching for a new coach, claiming it is too late.

The Soweto giants fired Molefi Ntseki seven months ago and promoted Cavin Johnson to caretaker coach. However, he presided over the worst season in the PSL era.

The club missed out on a trophy for the ninth straight year, and fans are hoping a new coach can breathe new life into the team.

Are Kaizer Chiefs running out of time?

The Glamour Boys have been linked with many coaches in the last few months, but Nabi emerged as the frontrunner, according to SABC Sport.

In an interview with Soccer Laduma, Ndlanya was not convinced with the pace of the hiring process.

"Chiefs should have a coach by now. It's too late not to have a coach at this stage if you look at how poorly they performed last season. You know, there is very little time to do much with a new coach. Chiefs are secretive, and maybe they already know who the coach is and when he'll be there, but I think it's too late now."

Ndlanya highlighted his belief that the new coach won't have enough time for his new role.

"Time is not on their side. The new coach would need at least three months of preseason training to acclimatise himself with the players and the environment. In that time, he would know which players are staying, which ones are going and who to bring in. But if he comes in late, he won't have time to do all that and the team will have another bad season," he said.

The Glamour Boys finished 37 points behind champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, and the new coach has lots of work to do to close the gap.

When will Nabi join Kaizer Chiefs?

Sports Brief previously reported that a new date for Kaizer Chiefs' appointment of Nasreddine Nabi has been set.

The Tunisian is expected to officially become their new coach on June 24 after his final match with AS FAR Rabat.
