Khedira picks his Euro 2024 winner

Former German international Sami Khedira, speaking to former England star Rio Ferdinand on Five UK, was asked for his winner for the ongoing tournament.

He was quick to respond and said England, which drew applause from Ferdinand, who would be happy to see his country lift their maiden trophy in the competition.

The 2014 World Cup winner also named Spanish youngster Lamine Yamal as the Player of the Tournament, while he tipped new Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe for the Golden Boot.

According to Opta Analyst, the Three Lions are the most favoured team to lift the trophy, with a 19.1% chance of winning it, while the three-time champions Germany have a 12.4% chance of winning a fourth title.

The home of football are the only country among the favourites who have yet to win the tournament.

Khedira played at five international tournaments for Germany, including two Euros and was runners-up in 2012 after beating Iberian neighbours, Portugal, 4-2 on penalties.
