Arsenal’s on=loan left-back Kieran Tierney went viral for all the wrong reasons on Friday, June 14, during Scotland’s opening Euro 2024 game against Germany.

Tierney, who spent the 2023/2024 Premier League season at Real Sociedad, celebrated wildly after getting the better of a German attacker three minutes into the game.

The left-back was involved in a tussle for the ball with Germany’s Jamal Musiala, who bundled the ball out of play after pressure from Tierney.

The Arsenal man emphatically celebrated the goal kick like it was a goal, with Liverpool defender Andy Robertson joining in.

It appears the Premier League pair celebrated a bit too early as Germany completely blew Scotland away in the first half.

Florian Wirtz opened the scoring in the 10th minute, with his powerful shot from the edge of the box proving too powerful for the Scotland goalkeeper.

Musiala got the last laugh from his duel with Tierney, scoring Germany’s second goal in the 19th minute.

Any hopes of Scotland making a comeback were effectively ended after Ryan Porteous was given his marching orders for a dangerous tackle in the box.

Kai Havertz scored the resulting penalty to give his side a 3-0 lead.

Here are some reactions from fans after Tierney's antics:

@Wakefield90:

"They'll always have Kieran Tierney celebrating a goal kick in the 6th minute."

@fishplums

"Kieran Tierney celebrating winning a goal kick feels like a very long time ago."

@mrgaztay

"Kieran Tierney fist pumping and celebrating winning a goal kick on 3 minutes to this is at HT is absolutely beautiful."

@clifty04

"Kieran Tierney celebrated like he’d scored a last-minute winner when he won a goal kick after 3 minutes. And then they’ve followed it up with this ."

Germany thrash Scotland

The Germans added a fourth goal in the 64th minute as Niclas Fullkrug fired in a decent shot into the net after some good work from Musiala.

An Antonio Rudiger own goal restored some pride for Scotland, but Emre Can added a fifth goal for his country in the second minute of added time.

Ryan Porteous Sets Unwanted Record

Sports Brief also reported on the unwanted record set by Scotland defender Ryan Porteous.

The Watford centre-half was sent off for a reckless tackle on Ilkay Gundogan.

According to Opta, Porteous became the first player to be sent off on his Euros debut since Aleksandar Dragovic for Austria against Hungary in 2016.
