Kaizer Chiefs could miss out on Benni McCarthy, as the Bafana Bafana legend's future at Manchester United took a new turn after the updates on Erik ten Hag.

The former FC Porto striker is one of the coaches linked with the Soweto giants and has always been clear about wanting the job if the opportunity comes forth.

The Glamour Boys' chances of nabbing the South African coach could be up as a new twist developed concerning his future with his employers, the Red Devils.

According to a report by the South African, McCarthy's future at Old Trafford is said to be settled after the Premier League giants decided to continue with ten Hag as their manager for next season.

The former Ajax coach has reportedly also asked the Manchester United board to offer the South African a new contract, as he would love to continue working with the Bafana Bafana legend.

The Dutch coach believes offering the former West Ham United striker a new deal will be a reward for his efforts over the past two seasons, during which they have worked together at Old Trafford.

This twist will come as bad news for certain Amakhosi fans, who wanted the South African legend to lead their team from the dugout next season.

Aside from the Kaizer Chiefs, it was reported that clubs in Major League Soccer were eyeing the South African tactician, but the speculation is all but over.

Mokoena backs McCarthy for Chiefs job

Sports Brief also previously reported on Lebohang Mokoena backing McCarthy to excel in the vacant Kaizer Chiefs coaching job.

Affectionately known as Cheeseboy, the former Amakhosi star wants the Bafana Bafana legend to be appointed for as the manager.
