With Nasreddine Nabi and Pitso Mosimane among the current favourites to land the job, another candidate has put up his hand and thrown his hat in the ring.

“If the opportunity arises to coach Kaizer Chiefs, obviously, you will have to sit down and think about it,” he previously stated.
McCarthy further described the Amakhosi as an institution, giving fans hope that he would manage the squad.
“Like I said, you don’t say no to an institution,” he added.
While not a big name like Mosimane or Nabi, the former Bafana striker has his fair share of managerial experience.
He was an assistant manager for Sint-Truidense VV in Belgium before taking charge of Cape Town City. McCarthy then moved to Amazulu and currently is a Forward Coach at Manchester United, Transfermarkt noted.
While McCarthy has expressed interest in the Chiefs post, he is still contracted to Manchester United.

McCarthy previously coached AmaZulu and Cape Town City in South Africa, but now works for Manchester United.
