According to Metro UK, widespread reports indicated that the former Ajax boss would be relieved of his duties regardless of the outcome of the FA Cup final, which they won after beating rivals Manchester City in the final at Wembley.

It is understood that despite United's triumph in the competition, the 54-year-old's future remains in limbo, with the club's new-look hierarchy currently conducting an end-of-season review.

A number of high-profile names have since been mooted as possible successors to Ten Hag.

The managers include Gareth Southgate, Roberto De Zerbi, Zinedine Zidane, and Pochettino.

Man United make decision on hiring Pochettino

However, the list is seemingly decreasing after United reportedly dropped Pochettino from the shortlist.

According to The Times, the immediate former Chelsea boss is now 'out of the frame' for the Old Trafford role.

It is believed that the Manchester club had already held discussions with the Argentine to assess the possibility of him taking charge.

However, that won't be the case, with the ex-PSG boss not in contention.

The development came after Thomas Tuchel also reportedly withdrew from running for the United job.

The former Bayern Munich boss is understood to have resolved to take a break from management after the German club dismissed him.

Meanwhile, Poch has already indicated his intent to return to the dugout as soon as he gets a suitable team.
