Samuel Eto'o and Cameroon's Sports Minister, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, seemed to have put aside the disagreement between them for a moment during the game against Cape Verde.

The Indomitable Lions produced their best performance amid the chaos in Cameroonian football to beat Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finalists Cape Verde in Yaoundé on Saturday, June 8, 2024, in the World Cup qualifiers.

A brace from veteran forward Vincent Aboubakar and strikes from Michael Ngadeu and Nouhou Tolo were enough as Cameroon secured a 4-1 victory at home. Jamiro Monteiro scored the consolation goal for the visitors, as reported by Live Score.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Eto'o and the Sports Minister were seen celebrating together after Aboubakar scored for Cameroon.

The former Barcelona star and the government appointee have not seen eye-to-eye following the Ministry's unilateral decision to appoint Belgium trainer, Marc Brys, as coach of the national team.

The team's preparation ahead of Saturday's game was marred by the friction between the two parties, as players had to wait for hours for their training kits to be released.

Eventually, FECAFOOT, the federation headed by Eto'o sent the kits and training materials for the team's preparation.

Last week, FECAFOT fired Brys but later withdrew the decision as they looked for a solution to the impasse bedeviling Cameroon football.

Eto'o apologises to Marc Brys

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Cameroonian star forward Samuel Eto'o apologised to national team coach Marc Brys, with whom he had been involved in a heated exchange last week.

The ex-Barcelona striker also confirmed Brys would remain in his position after it was announced the Belgian was to be replaced as head coach of Cameroon on Wednesday.

Eto'o referred to an incident captured on video during his first meeting with Brys, which was widely shared on social media Tuesday.
