Some big names are on the chopping block at Bayern Munich as the club prepares a mass overhaul on the squad this summer.

The Bavarian club ended the 2023/2024 season without a trophy – a reality that raised alarm bells among the club’s chiefs.

Given the lofty standards Bayern has always had, it did not help that they ended the season in third place on the log.

Bayern parted ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season and recently confirmed the appointment of Vincent Kompany as part of the major rebuild ahead of the new season.

According to Sky Sports Germany, attention has now turned to the squad, with reports suggesting the German giants are willing to listen to offers for six of their main players.

Sports Brief explores each player on Bayern’s transfer list and the chances of their departure.

6 players who could leave Bayern

Joshua Kimmich

Kimmich was played mainly as a right-back by Tuchel last season against his wishes - which was a strong indicator that the German midfielder was losing his place in the squad.

His current deal expires in 2025, and Bayern could cash in on the midfielder before it is too late.

Serge Gnabry

After making his return to Bayern from Arsenal, Gnabry has been one of the better players in recent years.

But with the winger set to turn 29 this year, and with the presence of younger talents like Mathys Tel in the squad, Gnabry’s transfer is highly likely.

Arsenal is among the clubs that have been linked with the winger.

Kingsley Coman

For the first time in Kingsley Coman’s career, he ended the 2023/2024 season without a league title.

Reports from French outlet L'Equipe claim new Barcelona boss Hansi Flick is interested in bringing the forward to the Nou Camp, and there is a chance Bayern could let him go with the right offer.

Noussair Mazraoui

The Morocco international is said to be at the top of the list of players Bayern are keen on letting go this summer.

He only made 19 appearances in the Bundesliga last season without scoring a single goal, according to Transfermarkt.

Leon Goretzka

Goretzka fell out of favour under Tuchel last season, with the German tactician mainly using him as a substitute, against his preferences.

The midfielder’s omission from the Germany squad for the upcoming Euros also did little to help his cause since he will be unable to prove himself in the tournament to perhaps save his Bayern career.

Matthijs de Ligt

The former Barcelona star has been a long-term target for Manchester United.

Reports from Football Transfers suggest the 24-year-old is not part of Kompany’s plans, and this has put clubs, including Arsenal, on high alert.

Bruno Fernandes to Bayern?

Sports Brief also reported on how fans reacted to Bruno Fernandes’ links to Bayern Munich.

The midfielder faces an uncertain future at United, who look set to make major changes to the squad in the coming months.

One of the 29-year-old’s plausible destinations is Bayern Munich, with Portuguese outlet O Jogo reporting on Sunday, June 2 that Fernandes’ agent Miguel Pinho was in touch with the German giants.
