Newly appointed Fenerbahce manager, Jose Mourinho, has received a new title from his former player and Real Madrid superstar, Luka Modric.

On Sunday, June 2, Mourinho was named head coach of the Yellow Canaries, marking his return to the managerial scene after his departure from AS Roma five months earlier.

Signing a two-year contract with an option of a third year with the Istanbul-based club, Mourinho joins Fenerbahce as they strive to regain their dominance in Turkish football and make significant strides in European competitions.

Known for his track record of success, Mourinho's arrival is expected to bring a wealth of experience and tactical acumen to the team as they pursue their ambitious goals.

Mourinho meets Modric in heartwarming reunion

As the 2024 European Championship approaches, the former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur manager has yet to formally assume his new role.

However, he has already begun connecting with some of his main actors, most recently paying a visit to goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic in the Croatian camp, where he reunited with his former player Luka Modric, Tribuna reports.

The 61-year-old shares a special bond with Modric; he was instrumental in bringing him to Madrid in 2012 and staunchly supported him during a time when many of the club's supporters criticised him as the 'worst signing' at that time.

Since then, the midfield maestro has evolved into the joint-most decorated player at the Spanish club, per The Athletic, solidifying his status as a true club legend.

Modric bestows new title on 'Special One'

Following their reunion, the 38-year-old bestowed a new nickname on Mourinho as Croatia prepares for the Euros in a post shared on Instagram.

"Always a pleasure to see you, mister! Forever grateful!": Modric wrote.
He then added a new name to Mourinho's title as the 'Special One': "Special and Real One."

Mourinho's salary at Fenerbahce revealed

Returning to football management with Fenerbahce, Jose Mourinho's salary for his new role with the Turkish club has been revealed, as reported by Sports Brief.

Fenerbahce has made public the amount the Special One will earn.

Club president Ali Koc disclosed during a media briefing that Mourinho and his team will receive a substantial €12 million annually from the Yellow Canaries.
