Instead, two days after winning a record-extending 15th UEFA Champions League, Los Blancos announced the 25-year-old as their latest Galactico.

According to Sky Sports, Kylian has signed a five-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu worth €15 million (£12.8 mil) a year after tax.

Further details suggest that Real will disburse a signing bonus exceeding £85 million to Mbappe over the term of his contract.

On the field, the 2018 World Cup winner is slated to join forces with elite talents such as Vinícius Jr. and Jude Bellingham, forming what could potentially become a footballing dynasty in the Spanish capital.

Nonetheless, the arrival of the 2018 World Cup winner has met with criticism from certain sections of Madrid's fanbase.

Madrid Universal notes that a couple of the club's former players have expressed apprehensions about the Frenchman's assimilation under Carlo Ancelotti and within the team.

Zidane predicts greatness for Mbappe

But sharing his perspective on his compatriot's move to the Spanish capital, Zidane expressed optimism while projecting that the forward could even surpass everyone at the club.

“Kylian [Mbappe] is here now. He will make history, and I think he'll surpass everyone,” Zizou said, as cited by Centre Goals.

Mbappe ascends to GOAT status

In a recent report, Sports Brief highlighted Ally McCoist's claim that Kylian Mbappe has ascended to the status of new GOAT, surpassing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

McCoist, a former footballer now serving as a pundit, asserted this ahead of Euro 2024, singling out the 2018 World Cup winner as the standout player on the global stage.

He emphasised that the new Real Madrid signing has supplanted Messi and Ronaldo in this regard.
