Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr.’s Ballon d'Or dreams have received further support from one of his Brazil national teammates who plays for a Premier League club.

Vinicius was one of Madrid’s best players in the just-concluded season, stepping up in the absence of former captain and striker Karim Benzema, who left for Saudi Arabia.

According to Transfermarkt, he netted 24 goals and provided 11 assists in 39 games in all competitions to help Madrid win La Liga and UEFA Champions League double.

He also netted a hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final held in Saudi Arabia.

Guimaraes backs Vinicius for Ballon d'Or

The quick-footed winger is currently in contention for the award with his Los Blancos teammate Jude Bellingham, who also had a fantastic first season in the Spanish capital.

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has openly declared support for his international teammate

“I believe it could be fundamental,” he told TNT Sports Brazil when asked if the Copa America could influence the winner. “I believe that from my point of view, Vini has to be [chosen], no matter what happens.
“But I’m not the one who votes, I’m not the one who does these things, so I believe it could weigh on him. We’re going to do our best here to help Vini, too, because he’s a kid who deserves it a lot, and for me, he’s already the best in the world.”

The 23-year-old has had an underwhelming international career, scoring three goals in 28 games since making his debut for Brazil in 2019, but he has to step up at the tournament in Miami to boost his chances.

Ancelotti backs Vinicius to win Ballon d'Or

Sports Brief reported on Carlo Ancelotti backing Vinicius for Ballon d'Or after Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 to win their 15th UEFA Champions League title.

The Italian manager claimed he has no doubts that the Brazilian deserves to win the top prize. He was not asked about his other player, Bellingham’s chance of winning.
