Marcus Rashford has been urged to leave Manchester United and join Arsenal in order to revive his career.

The embattled forward hit a new low recently after failing to make Gareth Southgate’s preliminary 33-man England squad for the upcoming Euro 2024.

In truth, the Three Lions manager was justified in leaving Rashford out of the squad since the 26-year-old appeared to be out of sorts in the 2023/2024 season.

He made 43 appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side last season, scoring eight goals and getting five assists - stats that are a far cry from the numbers he accrued in the 2022/2023 campaign, per Transfermarkt.

Arsenal urged to sign Rashford

Despite a dip in form, one former Arsenal player maintained his confidence in Rashford, and urged the Gunners to move in for the forward.

Bacary Sagna believes the England star needs a change in environment, and feels a move to the Emirates Stadium would suit both parties.

"I would love to see Marcus Rashford at Arsenal. Rashford is so quick. I think having [him] would enable Arsenal to have more variety in attack and I would love to see Gabriel Jesus and [Rashford] in the same team, pressing with so much intensity," Sagna said, per The Mirror.
He added: "This season has been a challenge for him. Mentally, he hasn’t been at his best, but when that happens, you need support and a good environment to bring you back to your best level."

The former Arsenal man further suggested there was a ‘bigger picture’ behind Rashford’s dip in form at Man United, saying the ‘vibe’ at the club last season was not right.

Sagna played for the Gunners from 2007 to 2014 before securing a famous move to Manchester City.

Arsenal’s centre-forward problem

After narrowly missing out on the Premier League title for the second season in a row, Arsenal are reportedly keen on bolstering their attack.

Last season, the Gunners played a number of matches with Kai Havertz as a ‘false 9’ after Gabriel Jesus admitted he was not a natural goal-scorer.

One name that has been linked with a move to the Emirates is RB Leipzig striker, Benjamin Sesko.

Sports Brief also previously reported on how Benjamin Sesko compares to Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson.

The 21-year-old has seen his ratings soar after a decent season with Leipzig in the 2023/24 campaign.

Sesko was a consistent figure in Marco Rose’s side last season, making 31 appearances with 14 goals.
