It is no longer news that Kaizer Chiefs are set to name Nasreddine Nabi as their new coach despite links with former Mamelodi Sundowns manager, Pitso Mosimane.

The Glamour Boys have been without a permanent manager since Molefi Ntseki's departure last year. Cavin Johnson was brought in as an interim coach to lead the team but failed to deliver a top-eight finish.

Several managers were linked with Amakhosi's job, but the Soweto giants are said to be sticking with their target from last year, Nabi.

Sports Brief takes a look at why the Soweto-based club might regret choosing the Tunisian tactician ahead of Mosimane.

Why Chiefs might regret choosing Nabi over Mosimane

Mosimane is arguably the best local coach in Africa due to his success in all the leagues he has worked in, both at home and abroad.

Nabi also has a good reputation due to his success with the clubs he worked with, but he's still behind Pitso in the pecking order.

The Tunisian manager has yet to coach a team in the PSL, and it might take him some time to acclimatise himself to how the league works, but the reverse is the case for Jingles, who knows the club and the league so well.

The South African tactician won the PSL five times with Mamelodi Sundowns and the Nedbank Cup thrice: twice with the Brazilians and once with SuperSport United, according to Transfer Markt.

Chiefs fans might not have the patience to wait for Nabi to get familiar with the league before meeting their expectations.

Mosimane, on the other hand, boasts of better continental success than the former Young Africans coach.

The former Bafana Bafana coach won the CAF Champions League three times (one with Sundowns and two with Al Ahly), while Nabi's only continental success came in 2012 when he won the CAF Confederations Cup with AC Leopards.

Kaizer Chiefs going with Nabi as their new mentor might yield positive results, but they could rue their chances of missing out on having Mosimane as their head coach.

Key issues Kaizer Chiefs must address

Sports Brief earlier reported that former Amakhosi star, David Kannemeyer, listed, four issues Kaizer Chiefs must address to become a top club again.

Kannemeyer named scouting, culture, philosophy, and overall planning as the main issues preventing the club from competing consistently.
