Despite a poor 2023/24 campaign, Kaizer Chiefs players are reportedly attracting interest from overseas.

After years of mediocrity, the Soweto giants are set to appoint a new coach to revive their fortunes.

A European club reportedly wants Amakhosi attacker, Ashley Du Preez, despite an underwhelming individual campaign.

Du Preez joined Amakhosi in 2022 but has struggled to live up to the performances he showed at Stellenbosch. In the last two seasons, the 26-year-old has scored 15 goals in 59 matches. He has 22 goals in 113 DStv Premiership matches.

According to The South African, clubs in Portugal have shown interest and are ready to pay top price to sign him.

Du Preez is part of a Chiefs team trying to rediscover their former glory, and at 26, a move to Europe might be perfect for the forward.

In June last year, Soccer Laduma reported that Romanian side, FCSB were keen on signing Du Preez after securing the services of another Chiefs player, Siyabonga Ngezana. However, a transfer never materialized.

Ex-Chiefs captain on club's main problem

Sports Brief earlier reported on former Amakhosi captain, Tefu Mashamaite, highlighting one major problem the Glamour Boys must resolve.

The former defender urged the club to create a culture, underscoring that players aren't always to blame when things go wrong.

4 things Kaizer Chiefs must address

Sports Brief also reported on former Chiefs star, David Kannemeyer, listing four issues Amakhosi must address to become a top club again.

Kannemeyer named scouting, culture, philosophy, and overall planning the main issues preventing the club from competing consistently.

The PSL giants' last silverware was the 2015 DStv Premiership title, which they won under former Bafana Bafana coach, Stuart Baxter. Since then, they've struggled to keep pace with Mamelodi Sundowns, who just secured their seventh straight title.
