The dust has not settled on Jose Mourinho’s electric unveiling as Fenerbahce’s new manager, and a rival are already planning how to challenge him next season.

Fenerbahce parted ways with former boss Ismail Kartal after one season in charge after failing to capture the title despite finishing the season with 99 points and losing just one game.

According to an official statement, Mourinho signed an initial two-year contract with a club option of another year as he returned to management after AS Roma sacked him in January.

Besiktas eye Solskjaer as new manager

According to Mirror UK, Turkish giants Besiktas, who parted ways with former Portugal national team manager Fernando Santos, have lined up Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as one of the potential replacements.

Solskjaer replaced Mourinho at Manchester United when the Special One was sacked. The Norwegian came in as interim, but his deal was made permanent after he impressed early. He won no trophy in his three years.

He was previously considered in December but rejected an 18-month deal. The 2023 Turkish Cup winners have kept their pursuit of the United legend.

The Black Eagles finished sixth last season and will play qualifiers for a chance to play in the UEFA Europa League next season, a competition Solskjaer lost the final in 2021.
