Real Madrid winger, Vinicius Junior, appears to have won the 2024 Ballon d'Or in the eyes of most football fans across the world.

A glancing header from Dani Carvajal and an ice-cold finish from Vini Jr. ended BVB's dreams of giving Marco Reus a fairytale farewell on Saturday night.

While Dortmund dominated and had the best of chances, especially in the first half, Madrid bid their time and punished the Bundesliga side in the second half.

Analysing Vini's Ballon d'Or chances

Success in Europe's premier club competition has boosted the chances of Vini winning the Golden Ball prize this year after a stellar campaign ended with him becoming the fifth Los Blancos player to score in multiple UCL finals.

As noted by Transfermarkt, his strike in the grand finale brought his total for this season to 24 goals and 11 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.

His interesting numbers, coupled with his man-of-the-match performances in big games, have convinced football fans on social media that the Brazilian deserves to scoop the most coveted individual award in the sport.

According to Opta stats, Vinícius completed eight dribbles against Dortmund, as many as every other player in the game combined (8). It was the most by a player in a UCL final since Lionel Messi in 2015 (10 v Juventus).

Fans choose Vinicius as Ballon d'Or winner

@alexis_moch wanted the award to be handed over to Vini right away:

"Give it to him right this second!!!"

@itssenyo hailed the Brazilian:

"Best player in the world."

@ezisleeq said:

"They better give him the award."

@fahdjaml, just like most fans, added:

"Just give it to him tonight. He is for sure a Ballon d'Or winner."

@Jobless_Captain concluded:

"Vinicius junior deserves this Balon D'or more than any other players this season."

Vinicius humiliates Ryerson in UCL final

Sports Brief also reported that Vinicius Junior humiliated Julian Ryerson with an extraordinary display of skill, nutmegging the Norwegian defender during Saturday night's Champions League final.

Despite being tightly marked and seemingly out of options, the quick-footed winger executed an astonishing flick, slipping the ball through Ryerson's legs and leaving him in his wake.
