Both teams, eager to make history at the iconic Wembley Stadium in Saturday's grand finale, had to endure a brief stoppage shortly after kickoff.

Why Champions League final was paused after kickoff?

According to The Independent, the start of the ultimate match in club football was far from ideal, as the game was briefly halted due to pitch invaders.

One invader made a beeline for Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham to take a selfie before snapping photos of himself in the centre circle.

All the invaders wore t-shirts bearing the name of streamer Mellstroy, as noted by Football London.

A fourth invader was stopped before entering the field. The incident caused a two-minute delay, with fans booing from the stands.

This disruption overshadowed the beginning of the showpiece final at Wembley Stadium, but security eventually removed the pitch invaders.

Real Madrid beat Dortmund to win 15th UCL

In the said game, Real Madrid once again showcased their knack for success in the Champions League, securing a record 15th title despite being outplayed by Borussia Dortmund, as reported by Sports Brief.

Edin Terzic's team dominated the first half, applying relentless pressure on Los Blancos.

However, Madrid came through Dormtund's wave of attacks unscathed.

A combination of the woodwork, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, and Dortmund's missed opportunities ensured the Spanish giants did not concede in the opening exchanges.

The breakthrough came when Dani Carvajal headed in a precise corner from Toni Kroos. With Dortmund pushing hard for an equaliser, Vinicius Junior delivered the decisive blow, sealing the victory.
