He said, per The Mirror:
“I'm aware of it. It's part and parcel of success; there's been interest from other clubs, and it's a short career as a manager. It's right to consider things but I'm so, so happy with the decision I've made.”
On why he decided to commit to Ipswich Town, McKenna hinted he was determined to build on the club’s success so far after two years with the club.
“We have enjoyed incredible success together over the last two seasons and I'm excited to have the opportunity and responsibility of leading this fantastic club into its first season in the Premier League in 22 years,” he added.
Five reasons why Man City won the Premier League
FootballAccording to the BBC, McKenna’s assistant manager, Martyn Pert, and first-team coaches Charlie Turnbull and Lee Grant have also signed new contracts with the club.
Why McKenna was in demand
Since taking charge of The Tractor Boys in December 2021, the former Manchester United Under-18 coach has guided Ipswich to back-to-back promotions.
His success in the Championship in the 2023/2024 season was no fluke either, as his side were the top scorers in the English second tier with 92 goals across 46 matches.
McKenna’s attacking style of play was very attractive, making him a suitable candidate to take over at big sides like Manchester United and Chelsea.
