Kaizer Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung has been told to fire his children holding managerial positions at the club ahead of the 2024/2025 season.

Fans have reiterated to the celebrated 79-year-old football chieftain that they want to end the idea of running the football club as a family business.

Seven members of the Motaung family, including four of his children, are employed in key positions at the club.

The club owner had failed to heed calls warning him of the dangers of allowing his team to be managed by family members.

Amakhosi have now completed their worst season ever after finishing the campaign on yet another trophyless note.

For the first time in their 54-year history, Chiefs ended the 2023/2024 DStv Premiership season in 10th position, underlining their continued downward trend.

While they were ripped apart by Cape Town Spurs on Saturday in their final match of the season, Kaizer Chiefs fans were reduced to tears.

The Soweto giants lost the tie 2-0, and during the encounter, commentator Mark Gleeson remarked via IOL:

“Many Chiefs fans will have sore necks after the match unless they stop shaking their heads.”

Sports administrators, past coaches, ex-players, and even politicians have all predicted that the club's continued fall from grace will not be good for South African football.

Heartbroken supporters have taken to social media to call on Motaung to change the narrative. One said:

“Kaizer Chiefs are so close to becoming like Jomo Cosmos FC! Motaung sr fire all your children, we are tired of being embarrassed."

Another added:

"Chiefs lost their identity by sidelining the traditional players of Kaizer Chiefs like Doctor Khumalo and many others. The top management should be Kaizer Chiefs former players not children of Kaizer Motaung to preserve the traditional culture of Kaizer Chiefs."

Mass exodus looms at Kaizer Chiefs

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kaizer Chiefs are likely to offload up to nine players from their team this summer after a disastrous campaign in the 2023-24 DStv Premiership season.

The Glamour Boys finished outside the top eight, extending their trophyless season to nine. They won't participate in next season's MTN8 competition.

Aside from appointing a new coach, which is top on the list, the Soweto Giants are reportedly set to overhaul their entire squad ahead of next season.
