The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) has unveiled its list of the most valuable players following the thrilling conclusion of the 2023/24 football season.

This prestigious research institute has highlighted a host of top players, including Real Madrid's stars Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr, among the most valuable in the world.

Additionally, the Swiss-based institute has ranked African players competing in Europe's elite leagues.

In light of this, Sports Brief highlights a list of the most valuable African players in the world, based on CIES data.

Most valuable African players according to CIES

Nicolas Jackson

The Chelsea forward has been rated by the statistical institute as the most valuable African footballer at present. According to the organisation, the Senegalese forward is currently valued at an estimated €99.3 million.

Jackson enjoyed a stellar debut campaign with Chelsea, scoring 17 goals and providing six assists, according to data from Fotmob.

Mohammed Kudus

The West Ham United star ranks second on the list of the most valuable African players. According to the released data, the 23-year-old is valued at an estimated €89.6mil.

The versatile Ghanaian forward had an impressive 2023/24 season, tallying 14 goals and six assists in his 45 appearances for West Ham per data courtesy of Fotmob.

Victor Boniface

The Bayer Leverkusen talisman ranks third on the list, according to data released by the footballing statistical body.

Despite an injury-plagued season, Boniface managed to make 34 appearances for the Bundesliga champions.

Valued at €86.5m, the 23-year-old impressed in his debut Bundesliga season, recording 21 goals and nine assists, per Fotmob data.

Victor Osimhen

The 2023 African Footballer of the Year had a season to forget with Italian side Napoli. Despite the challenges, Osimhen remains one of the most sought-after names in football, valued at €85.6m.

Even with a season marred by injuries and Napoli's underwhelming performance, the forward managed to record 17 goals and three assists during the recently concluded campaign per data from Fotmob.

Brahim Diaz

The Moroccan forward wraps up our list of the most valuable African players plying their trade in Europe.

The 24-year-old, who completed a switch back to the Santiago Bernabéu in the summer, has developed into a mainstay for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Brahim, who recorded 12 goals and eight assists in his 44 appearances, currently boasts a market value of €76.4m.

Potential destinations for Wilfred Ndidi

Sports Brief in another report compiled a list of potential destinations for Nigerian midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi.

The combative Leicester City star is reportedly seeking a move away from the King Power Stadium.

Ndidi has attracted interest from several clubs, including La Liga club, Barcelona and, most recently, French Ligue 1 side, Olympique Lyon.
