When it comes to European cup finals this season, African players have stolen the show.

Following Ademola Lookman’s hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final to give Atalanta the win, Ayoub El Kaabi scored in the UEFA Conference League final.

The Moroccan grabbed headlines in the final in much the same way that Nigeria’s Lookman did against Bayer Leverkusen, as he helped his Olympiacos side to the title on May 29.

The Moroccan attacker was named Player of the Match for his performance, scoring in the dying minutes of extra time to give the Greek side a 1-0 win, The Guardian noted.

El Kaabi managed to get his head onto a dipping cross to steer it into the back of the net.

El Kaabi on fire in Europe this season

The goal came as no surprise to fans, as El Kaabi has been in incredible form for his side in Europe this season.

He has scored 11 goals in the Conference League, Transfermarket noted, including five against Aston Villa over the course of two legs.

It's not just the Conference League where El Kaabi has shone, as the 30-year-old has scored with ease no matter what tournament he's played in this season.

The Casablanca native has scored 33 goals in 50 games and has notched up three assists. 15 of those goals came in the Greek Super League 1 for the most successful team in Greek football history.

El Kaabi breaks Ronaldo and Benzema record

Sports Brief earlier reported how Morocco's El Kaabi also broke a record previously held by three talented strikers in European football.

The striker netted his 11th goal in the UEFA Europa Conference League, netting a winner in the final for Olympiacos against Fiorentina.

El Kaabi has now surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Radamel Falcao, who all scored 10 times in a European contest.
