Football fans have shared their opinion following Bayern Munich's shock appointment of Vincent Kompany as head coach.

The Bundesliga giants, who finished a disappointing third in the 2023–24 season, have signed Kompany on a three-year deal.

The 38-year-old replaces Thomas Tuchel, who departed at the end of the season despite the club making frantic efforts to convince the ex-Chelsea manager to stay.

According to the BBC, the Bavarians agreed to a compensation fee of around £10.2 million with Burnley to secure the services of Kompany.

Kompany's arrival comes despite a challenging season at Turf Moor, where Burnley were relegated from the Premier League, making an immediate return to the Championship.

Bayern turned to the former Manchester City captain after facing several rejections in their search for Tuchel's successor.

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso, Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann, and Austria coach Ralf Rangnick all declined the role.

The Belgian manager will aim to rediscover his winning form at Bayern after the German giants endured their first trophyless season in 12 years, per the Sun.

The appointment aligns with a trend in modern management towards Pep Guardiola's protégés, with Mikel Arteta, Enzo Maresca, and, to some extent, Xabi Alonso leading this new wave of coaching talent.

Fans troll Harry Kane after Kompany's appointment

However, Kompany's move to Bayern, often referred to as "FC Hollywood," has been met with scepticism and disbelief, with many taking subtle jabs at Harry Kane, who joined the club last season.

@lappoosky wrote:

"Kane is really gonna end his career trophyless, appointing a 19th in EPL."

@EsirEid added:

"It’s Harry Kane. I pity you. How can somebody be so unlucky?"

@tweetertwitzer trolled Harry Kane:

"Bayern signed Kane to make sure he never wins a medal. What is this appointment all about? Where's Bayern's ambitions gone?"

@PhilipSorokin prophesied doom for Kane and Bayern:

"Kane is not winning anything; Bayern is getting relegated. Let's give him a chance, people say. Well, I say you don't give head coaches jobs to someone who just got relegated from PL."

@FajilaJnr claimed:

"With Kane in your team, you ain't winning."

Harry Kane wins European Golden Shoe

Bayern Munich forward, Harry Kane, outperformed Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe to secure the 2023–24 European Golden Shoe, as reported by Sports Brief.

The England captain scored an impressive 36 goals in 32 Bundesliga games, surpassing the prolific Manchester City forward.
