Real Madrid midfield maestro Luka Modri has snubbed Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr while naming the player that deserves to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or award.

Vini Jr and Bellingham are undoubtedly the two favourites to secure the crown after an impressive run of form with the Spanish giants.

The duo played a crucial part in Real's La Liga campaign, which saw them win the league title and lead the club to the Champions League final, where they will face Borussia Dortmund.

Bellingham, who joined Los Blancos from Borussia Dortmund last summer, scored 19 La Liga goals and six assists, which earned him the title of La Liga Player of the Year.

Winning the European elite tournament will surely put the Englishman in a better position to challenge for the Ballon d'Or alongside Vini Jr.

Modri backs Toni Kroos to win Ballon d'Or

However, Modric contends that no other player than Toni Kroos deserves to cart home the prestigious prize.

Speaking via @MadridXtra, per Sportskeeda, the one-time Ballon d'Or winner admitted that Bellingham and Vini are clear frontrunners.

"Ballon d'Or? Someone of Real Madrid surely (laughs). My favourites are Vinicius, Bellingham, and Kroos. I would like Toni to win it, he's my friend," he said.

Modric's backing of Kroos for one of football's most prestigious honour came just days after the latter announced he would be retiring after the Euros.

According to the BBC, the Germany international will hang his boots after a trophy-laden career that saw him win multiple titles at Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

The 34-year-old was also part of the German team that won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Bellingham concedes Ballon d'Or race

Earlier, Sports Brief also reported on Bellingham appearing to have thrown in the towel in the race for the 2024 Ballon d'Or.

The Englishman has had an explosive first season following his big-money transfer to the Spanish capital last summer.
