Enzo Maresca is already laying the ground for his upcoming task at Stamford Bridge.

The Leicester City boss is understood to be in a pole position to land the vacant Chelsea role.

The position fell vacant after the Blues recently parted company with Mauricio Pochettino, who spent just a season with the west London club.

According to Metro UK, Chelsea's search for their next manager has seen them land Maresca.

It is believed that the Premier League giants have agreed to a £10 million compensation deal to secure the Italian's services from Leicester.

However, the tactician is yet to officially be unveiled as he is currently on holiday.

3 signings Enzo Maresca wants to make

Be that as it may, Maresca is already seemingly getting down to business, having begun drafting his transfer plan for his first summer with the Blues.

The Telegraph reports that the 44-year-old is prioritising three key signings, including a new goalkeeper.

Maresca is also said to be keen to sign a left-back and a prolific striker.

However, it remains to be seen if Chelsea chiefs would be willing to spend more on new signings, especially considering their previous investment in new players.

The 2021 Champions League winners are already under pressure to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules, having splashed an eyewatering £1 billion on transfers since Todd Boehly's takeover.

Chelsea finished sixth in the Premier League table last season under Pochettino.

4 players likely to benefit from Maresca appointment

Earlier, Sports Brief also analysed four Chelsea players who are best placed to benefit from the imminent appointment of Maresca as the club's new boss.

Maresca, who previously served as Pep Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City, employed a similar tactical approach with Leicester City, guiding them to an impressive 97 points in their Championship campaign.

Known for his Guardiola-inspired methods, Maresca has been backed to transform the fortunes of four Chelsea stars.
