Borussia Dortmund manager, Edin Terzic, has issued a cautionary message to Real Madrid ahead of the UEFA Champions League final.

The Black and Yellows, who reached their third-ever Champions League final this season on the back of stunning Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals, will face the Spanish giants on Saturday, June 1, at Wembley Stadium.

Terzic's charges stunned the Kylian Mbappe-led PSG team, winning both legs with identical 1-0 scorelines to clinch one of the two spots available for the Grand Finale, ESPN reports.

Despite being overwhelming underdogs, Dortmund can draw inspiration from their 1997 triumph, when they defeated a star-studded Juventus side coached by Marcello Lippi 3-1.

However, given Madrid's formidable record in Champions League finals, their chances of pulling off a major upset similar to what they achieved 27 years ago are slim.

The newly crowned Spanish champions boast a record 14 titles and have not lost a UCL final since the 1980–81 season, when Liverpool edged them out 1-0 at Parc des Princes in Paris.

Since that defeat, Real Madrid have won an astonishing eight consecutive finals and are determined to extend that streak, with Dortmund standing in the way of their 15th European crown.

Terzic warns Real Madrid ahead of UCL final

Ahead of the much-anticipated final, Terzic has sent a strong warning to Real Madrid, hinting that their winning streak in the Champions League finals might come to an end on Saturday.

“It’s time for Real Madrid’s streak, 8 games and 8 wins in finals, to end,” the 41-year-old tactician said, as quoted by MadridXtra.

How Dortmund can upset Madrid in UCL final

In a related publication, Sports Brief reported that RB Leipzig forward, Yussuf Poulsen, has shared his insights on how Borussia Dortmund can upset Real Madrid in this season's Champions League final.

Ahead of the much-talked-about clash, Poulsen offered strategic advice for Dortmund to counter the Real Madrid juggernaut on a European night.

He stressed the importance of efficiency in the Bundesliga side's gameplay.
