Pitso Mosimane could be returning to South African football with Kaizer Chiefs after Abha Club’s relegation from the Saudi Pro League sparked speculations.
The 59-year-old manager had a six-month deal in Saudi Arabia, which required him to save the club from the drop, with the promise of a lucrative offer if he succeeded.
That did not materialise as a final-day loss saw the Leaders of the South relegate to the second-tier of the country's football league structure.
According to GOAL, Mosimane confirmed his contract with Abha has expired which automatically makes him a free agent, meaning he could accept any job after the conclusion of the Saudi Pro League.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly manager has been strongly linked with a return to South Africa as Kaizer Chiefs are considering making an offer to the highly-rated coach.
The three-time CAF Champions League winner is yet to disclose what his next move will be, but it is widely expected that he will return to management before the 2024/25 season kicks off.
Mosimane’s agent spotted at Chiefs
Meanwhile, Mosimane's wife and agent, Moira Tlhagale, has been spotted at Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena, sparking rumours a deal could be struck to bring the legendary coach back to South Africa.
Tlhagale held meetings with the Amakhosi management, but nothing has been confirmed by the South African club or Mosimane’s handlers for now.
Many Kaizer Chiefs fans believe Mosimane is the right man to restore the Soweto giants to their former glory days after an underwhelming campaign this season that saw the club finish 10th - their lowest finish in more than a half-century of professional football in South Africa.

FootballWhen will Amakhosi name a new coach?
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Kaizer Chiefs will appoint a new manager, with an announcement set to take place soon following a disappointing 2023-24 season.
The Glamour Boys fired Molefi Ntseki early in the recently-concluded season and replaced him with Cavin Johnson, who served as the PSL giants' interim manager.
Despite adding nine players last summer, the Chiefs failed to finish in the top eight of the DStv Premiership, ruling them from the MTN 8 tournament next season.
