It's been quite a successful season for many players of the Super Eagles plying their trade in the European Leagues.

Throughout the season, a number of Nigerian players experienced the thrill of cup victories with their clubs.

While individuals like Victor Boniface, Nathan Tella, and Wilfred Ndidi were confirmed league champions of their respective clubs even before the conclusion of the season, a few other Super Eagles players had to endure the agony and nerve-wracking wait until the final day of the season, before being confirmed as league winners with their respective club sides.

In light of this, and with the major European leagues across Europe ending, Sports Brief spotlights a list of Nigerian players who won titles on the final day of the league season.

Super Eagles players who titles on the final day of the season

Joe Aribo — Southampton

The 27-year-old midfielder ended the season with sheer delight, securing promotion to the English Premier League with Southampton in the playoff final against Leeds United.

Despite an underwhelming start to the campaign, the versatile midfielder eventually won over the heart of his manager and played a crucial role in Southampton's success.

Aribo, who featured for the duration of the fixture, is expected to continue with Southampton next season in the Premier League.

Raphael Onyedika — Club Brugge

The 23-year-old, who had undoubtedly the best season of his career in terms of goals and assists, capped it off in remarkable fashion by clinching the Belgian Jupiler League title with Club Brugge.

The defensive midfielder, reportedly on the radar of Barcelona and a long list of other elite clubs, scored three goals and provided an assist in his 30 appearances this season.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finalist might be one to watch for a potential transfer from the Belgian club in the summer.

Peter Olayinka – Crvena Zvezda

The 28-year-old forward is yet another Nigerian player who concluded the European season by clinching a title.

Olayinka played a pivotal role as Crvena Zvezda sealed the Serbian League crown with his brace in the fixture against Cukaricki. This triumph marked the Serbian giants' 35th league crown in their illustrious history.

The Super Eagles forward also ended the season with 12 goals and four assists according to data courtesy of Fotmob.

Odegbami names an ingredient for Finidi’s success

Sports Brief in another report stated former captain of the Super Eagles, Segun Odegbami, has identified a key ingredient for Finidi George's success as Nigeria’s coach.

The 1980 AFCON winner hinted at the calibre of players available to coach Finidi through his stint as manager.

The newly appointed Super Eagles gaffer recently announced his 23-man squad list for the FIFA World Cup qualification fixtures against South Africa and the Benin Republic.
