Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has pinpointed the tactical mistake he made during the FA Cup final.

The Citizens were the firm favourites to win the trophy when they took on rivals Manchester United on Saturday, May 25, at Wembley Stadium.

Guardiola recently led City to a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title, beating Arsenal to the crown in an intense race.

Given their incredible run in the final weeks of the season, City were backed to see off United on Saturday to retain the domestic trophy.

However, Erik ten Hag had other plans, with the Dutch boss staging a tactical masterclass to silence their city rivals.

According to Goal, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho were the men of the moment, with the two youngsters scoring two quick-fire goals to help United end the season in style.

Guardiola takes blame for FA Cup defeat

While reflecting on City's defeat, Guardiola has appeared to take the blame for the unexpected loss.

Speaking after the match, the Spaniard admitted his approach to the match was largely to blame for the 2-1 defeat.

"Because of my decisions, we were not in the right positions to attack them. It was my mistake, my gameplan was not good," he said via Sportskeeda.
"The players know the reason why. Tactically, it was not good, I had a feeling it was not good. It didn't work, as simple as that," he added.

4 managers who won PL, FA and League Cup

Earlier, Sports Brief also analysed the only managers who have managed to claim all the English titles: the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the League Cup.

Only four managers have managed this feat in the history of the Premier League.

The four tacticians include Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp. The duo has enjoyed an incredible run in the English top flight, with Pep winning six EPL crowns.
