Iniesta still balling at 40

Iniesta is currently playing in the UAE Pro League with Emirates Club after a glistening career with La Liga giants FC Barcelona and a five-year spell in Japan with Vissel Kobe.

According to Transfermarkt, the Barcelona legend has made an impressive 21 appearances across all competitions, contributing five goals and one assist.

In his most recent match, the veteran midfielder played the entire game and scored a goal via the penalty spot as Emirates defeated Al Nasr 2-1 in their battle to avoid relegation.

While the former Spain international impressed with an overall rating of 7.7 from Sofascore, fans noted his ageing appearance in photos of the 2010 World Cup winner that emerged online.

Fans express concern about Iniesta's old looks

Football fans argued on social media that Iniesta, who appeared "older than his age," should have retired by now, raising concerns about his physical condition.

A cross-section of users made interesting comments about the midfielder's ongoing decision to continue playing.

@ChuchoMaine claimed:

"Iniesta is definitely owing some Cartel."

@__Sonofglory added:

"Man, still hustling."

Another user, @RichyBurniton, poked fun at Iniesta with a Barcelona dig:

"He's now hustling for money after wasting his entire career at Barcelona."

@KelvinRock_ made fun of Iniesta's looks, describing him as a grandfather:

"I know some of you would want to compare him with Ronaldo"
"On the contrary, that will be unwise as Iniesta is looking like a grandfather already. He should be spending quality time with his family."

@merlindoe7 joked:

"That's what happens if you play for a poor club like Barca."

Why Iniesta supported briefly Real Madrid?

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Andres Iniesta, now a Barcelona legend, wasn't always a supporter of the team.

As a child, he briefly supported their bitter arch-rivals, Real Madrid, because he was upset with La Blaugrana.

His brief angst towards the Catalan giants was because his childhood club, Albacete, were thumped by Barca 7-1 in 1992.
