Ahead of the final, Sports Brief looks at the African players with the most FA Cup winner's medals in history.

Africans with most FA Cup titles

1. Didier Drogba (four titles)

The Ivorian legend holds the record of being the only player to score in four consecutive FA Cup final appearances and backed it up with the same number of winner's medals.

He won all his FA Cup titles while playing for Chelsea and is rated as one of the best players in the competition's history.

2. John Mikel Obi (four titles)

The former Stoke City midfielder is the Nigerian with the most FA Cup titles and boasts the same number of medals as Drogba.

The legendary Nigerian midfielder also won all his FA Cup trophies while playing for the Blues in England.

3. Salomon Kalou (four titles)

The former Lille forward is the second Ivorian on the list and has the same number of FA Cup titles as Didier Drogba, as they both won it together during their time with Chelsea.

4. Michael Essien (four titles)

The former Real Madrid star is the Ghanaian with the most FA Cup titles, having won the competition four times, like his ex-Chelsea teammates, Drogba, Mikel Obi, and Kalou.

The no-nonsense midfielder played a crucial part in all the FA Cup titles he won with the Blues.

5. Lauren (four titles)

The former Cameroonian international was an outstanding right fullback during his time with Arsenal in England. He won three FA Cups while with the Gunners before adding another one with Portsmouth in the 2007–08 season.

6. Kolo Toure (three titles)

The former Liverpool defender had a successful spell in England for over a decade and crowned it with three FA Cup winner's medals.

He won two with Arsenal in the early 2000s and one with Manchester City.

7. Nwankwo Kanu (three titles)

The two-time African Player of the Year made his mark in the oldest club football competition, achieving success with Arsenal and Portsmouth.

The former Nigerian international won the competition three times, twice with Arsenal and once with Pompey.

Andre Onana and Amad Diallo could join the list of Africans who have won the competition if Manchester United triumphs over the Cityzens later today (May 25).

United and City's FA Cup meetings

Sports Brief recently reported on the past meetings of City and United in the FA Cup.

Their previous showdown happened in the FA Cup final last year. The Cityzens won 2-1 thanks to an Ilkay Gundogan brace.
