Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt with a huge blow ahead of this weekend's final DStv Premiership game of the 2023-24 season against Cape Town Spurs.

The Glamour Boys will face the already-relegated Cape Town Spurs side at the DHL Stadium on Saturday, May 25, as they continue to battle for a top-eight finish in the Premier Soccer League.

Cavin Jonhson's side are currently eighth on the table with 36 points, and they need a win against the Urban Warriors to finish above Polokwane City and AmaZulu FC, who are also on the same point.

Two clubs that are also in the race to finish eighth are Golden Arrows and Moroka Swallows, which have 35 points and 34 points, respectively.

A win for Amakhosi on Saturday will seal their top-eighth finish as they have a better goal difference compared to AmaZulu and Polokwane City, who are levelled on points.

According to a report by iDiskiTimes, Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed ahead of the game that they will be without six key players against Cape Town Spurs.

Mozambican defender, Edmilson Dove, is still suspended, while Keagan Dolly, Reeve Frosler, George Matlou, Tebogo Potsane, and Dillan Solomons are still nursing different injuries.

"There have been no recoveries insofar as injuries are concerned for Chiefs," the club stated.
"Players such as Keagan Dolly, George Matlou, Tebogo Potsane, Reeve Frosler, and Dillan Solomons are still nursing various ailments.
"Defender, Edmilson Dove, will also miss his third game in a row after he picked up his second red card of the campaign against TS Galaxy two weeks ago."

Johnson gives excuses for Chiefs fans

Sports Brief earlier reported that Johnson gave viable excuses for supporters' failure to turn up to honour a departing legend, Itumeleng Khune.

Chiefs are currently eighth in the league standings, and fans seem to be showing their displeasure by continuing to vote with poor attendance at matches.
