Former Arsenal and Chelsea man, Cesc Fabregas, recently made a bold pick, suggesting Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney was better than Eden Hazard.
In his prime, Hazard was unplayable and is highly regarded as one of the best players in the modern game.
Fabregas knows just how good Hazard was, having played with the Belgian at Chelsea from 2014 to 2019.
On the other hand, Wayne Rooney is also a legend in his own right and is fondly remembered by Manchester United fans.

Cesc Fabregas picks Rooney over Hazard
Fabregas recently participated in GOAL's ‘winner stays on’ challenge, where he was asked to choose between two players in their prime.
Hazard was put against some big names, including Marcus Rashford, Antoine Griezmann, Fernando Torres, Romelu Lukaku and even Sergio Aguero, with Fabregas picking his former Belgian teammate over all of them.
However, when it boiled down to Hazard versus Rooney, Fabregas chose the latter.
When Hazard endorsed Rooney
In 2013, Hazard discussed the prospect of Rooney joining Chelsea, and the forward had nothing but good things to say about the Manchester United legend, describing the England international as “the perfect signing.”

The trio of Fabregas, Rooney, and Hazard have all retired from playing professional football.

Rooney was the first to hang his boots, retiring in 2021 to take a coaching role at Derby County.
Fabregas retired in July 2023 at the age of 36 after a brief stint with Italian side Como, which recently earned promotion to Serie A.
Hazard’s retirement was perhaps the most surprising. In October 2023, at the age of 33, he decided he had enough of professional football.
