FC Barcelona is reportedly close to replacing Xavi Hernandez as head coach, having reached an agreement with former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick.

Xavi, who had announced earlier this year that he planned to leave the club only to reverse his decision, now finds his future at La Blaugrana in serious doubt.

This uncertainty follows his recent comments questioning the team's ability to compete with El Clasico rivals Real Madrid due to ongoing financial issues, which reportedly annoyed club president Joan Laporta.

With Xavi seemingly close to a summer exit, Hansi Flick has been linked with the Catalan giants for some time.

Hansi Flick set to replace Xavi as Barca coach

Flick, who famously won the treble at Bayern Munich before taking over the German national team, is now poised to take the reins at the Catalan club.

According to Barca Universal, a verbal agreement has been reached after Flick presented his plan for the Blaugrana.

This development follows a meeting in London involving Flick, his agent Pini Zahavi, and Barcelona officials Deco and Bojan Krkic as the club seeks a new technical direction.

It is also suggested that Barcelona president Joan Laporta is fully convinced about the German tactician's capabilities.

Meanwhile, Xavi has insisted he will stay despite the uncertainty surrounding his future. He looked ahead to next season following a victory over Rayo Vallecano, according to GOAL.

Why Barcelona president wants Xavi sacked?

President Laporta reportedly felt disappointed by Xavi's statements and expected him to convey optimism and a firm belief that the Catalan giants could compete and secure titles, as reported by Sports Brief.

Laporta believes Xavi's public comments significantly differ from what he conveyed to the board during a meeting prior to his retention decision.

After the victory over Almeria, which solidified Barcelona's hold on second place, Xavi defended his remarks.

However, Laporta is also reportedly unhappy with the club legend because he believes Barcelona has gone to great lengths to secure signings, yet the coach has not fully utilised them.

When Xavi addressed future concerns

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Xavi had addressed concerns about his future at Camp Nou, stating he would willingly step down if his players lost faith in him.

The Spaniard emphasised his commitment to restoring Barcelona's winning ways, adding, "I'm here to bring something."
